Terms of Service

These Terms govern your use of the LockSteve service operated at www.locksteve.com ("LockSteve", "we", "us"). By signing up for an account or using the service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the service.

1. The service

LockSteve is a multi-tenant SaaS for managing smart locks, cameras, and IoT devices and for synchronizing access codes with booking platforms such as Airbnb and Vrbo. Specific features depend on your plan as listed on our pricing page.

2. Your account

You agree to:

  • Provide accurate sign-up information.
  • Keep your password secret. We strongly recommend enabling two-factor authentication.
  • Be responsible for all activity under your account, including actions taken by your teammates.
  • Notify us promptly at security@locksteve.com if you suspect unauthorized access.

3. Acceptable use

You may not:

  • Use LockSteve to unlock doors or otherwise grant access to property you don't own or lawfully control.
  • Use the API or webhooks to attack, probe, or otherwise abuse the service or any third party.
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the source code of the service.
  • Resell the service without a separate written agreement.
  • Use the service in any way that violates applicable law in the jurisdictions where you operate.

4. Hardware & vendor connections

LockSteve does not manufacture locks. We integrate with vendor APIs (Seam, Home Assistant, Tuya, Yale/August, etc.) and with iCal feeds from booking platforms. We are not responsible for:

  • Hardware failure, low battery, or physical tampering.
  • Vendor outages, API changes, or rate limits imposed by the vendor.
  • Misconfigured iCal URLs or incorrect check-in/out windows resulting in guest access issues.

You are responsible for testing your configuration before relying on it for live operations.

5. Plans & payment

Paid plans are billed monthly in advance through Stripe. If your payment fails, your account will go to a past-due state for a short grace period and we may then suspend functionality. You can cancel at any time from the billing portal; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period and is not pro-rated.

6. Data ownership & deletion

You own the data you put into LockSteve — device names, codes, access users, activity logs. You can export it via CSV or the public API at any time. On account deletion, your data is permanently removed from our production database within 30 days; backups are rotated out within 90 days.

7. Service availability

We aim for high availability but provide the service on an "as-is" basis without uptime guarantees on the Starter, Pro, and Business plans. Enterprise customers may sign a separate SLA. Maintenance windows are announced in advance when possible.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, LockSteve's total liability to you in any twelve-month period is limited to the amount you paid us during that period. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of bookings, property damage, or guest lockouts.

9. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced via email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
